Sakineh Ashtiani NorwayWomen’s rights activist to be stoned to death!

The International Committee Against Stoning warns the local authorities in Tabriz and the leaders of the Islamic regime of the consequences of this barbarity.

On 2 July, we received information from Tabriz prison that two people have been sentenced to death by stoning. Zarah Saee and Ali Saee, cousins from a village in East Azerbaijan Province in Iran, are accused by the Islamic regime of having had sex outside of marriage. The sentence was handed down by the supreme court of Iran and confirmed by the Chief Justice of Iran Sadeq Larijani.

We also heard from several news sources over the last few days that there are two more people who have been sentenced to death by stoning in Tabriz prison – Mohammad Reza Jamali and his wife Khadija Mohammad Ali Zadeh, who is a women’s rights activist. The couple is in contact with several human rights groups across the world asking for support to stop their death sentence.

The International Committee Against Stoning calls on local officials in Tabriz and the leaders of the Islamic Republic to stop these executions.

We are calling for the immediate revocation of all stoning sentences.

When the Islamic Republic of Iran tried to stone Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani, who is still incarcerated in the same Tabriz prison, the world stood up to save her. Let’s work together again to stop this barbarity and save the life of Zarah Saee, Ali Saee, Mohammad Reza Jamali and Khadija Mohammad Ali Zadeh.
