I would like to begin by saying that I agree with a lot of what you stand for. I follow your twitter feed and read your blogs and have on occasion signed your petitions when I have agreed with them. I am not a hardcore activist. I have family and they come first. I work for a living.
I am asking this question out of curiosity, nothing more, I don’t want or need details. Ok, having said that, hopefully you won’t think me rude for asking or bite my head off:
How do you fund your activities across the world? My father in law lectures on nutrition as a professor and when he is “invited” he is also paid for his time and his travel is reimbursed. People invite him because he has much knowledge to impart as a professor. His scientific work is funded too.
Yours is a different science. It is as much political as it is theological and I don’t understand how somebody can devote as much time to their causes, as you seem to do, without needing to stop to earn more money to replenish the coffers.
A second question you may also choose to ignore is: If you want sponsorship, why don’t you ask for it?
I am asking purely out of curiosity. If you think me rude for asking then feel free to ignore this.

I have always worked full time and done my politics on the side. Since being made redundant a few years ago though I wasn’t able to find any work (it could have something to do with my big mouth too) and so I have been raising money to help me campaign full time. I often ask for donations for my various campaigns here and elsewhere. Donations usually cover expenses and are not much but I have more recently managed to get funding from some funders for a source of income. It’s not much and I’m always in overdraft but at least I get to do what I love and have the flexibility to also take care of my 7 year old. If I go to a talk of course, the host covers the travel and accommodation so it doesn’t cost us anything. We also ask the host organisation to use that event to raise funds for our campaigning work from the audience and that is now a small but steady source of income.
If you want to donate to the work of One Law for All or CEMB or Fitnah or Equal Rights Now, there are donate buttons on each of their sites and also a request for donations on my own site to Count Me In Iran. Hope this explains things.
