On the anniversary of the war on Iraq, we watch on our TV screens with complete disbelief and horror at the abyss that was once a country albeit a dictatorship. Though we always said this would happen, it is still so hard to believe that things can actually always get so much worse than we had allowed ourselves to imagine.

U.S. Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld says that terrorists in Iraq are attempting to stoke sectarian tension and spark civil war. What else did he really expect when all they have done is divide and compartmentalise the country into ethnic and religious blocks via their own form of state terrorism?

The current situation is a direct result of the USA’s war and policies on Iraq. Of course Islamic terrorists are taking advantage of the situation to gain access to power – though some have already been mainstreamed into the Iraqi government, thanks to the USA. They too have turned Iraq into their killing fields.

As every day goes by, it becomes painfully clear for all that neither the Islamist herds, nor the ethnocentric gangs and thugs let loose on society, nor the US-led ‘liberators’ can bring about a humane and 21st century solution to this swamp that was once called Iraq. They are in fact themselves the problem.

And in all this tragedy and chaos, UK Foreign Secretary Jack Straw says he wants to help the Iranian people have a freer and more prosperous future – that the Iranian people deserve better! Isn’t that what they said about the people of Iraq and Afghanistan! And we have seen the prosperity they have brought for them!

To Jack Straw and Donald Rumsfeld: Please, if anyone is going to and can bring freedom, equality and prosperity, it is not you but the revolutionary movement fighting for the overthrow of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Your alternative is no alternative at all but more of the same.

Stand back and let us show you how it’s done.

  1. I think you should take the time, to read more of Maryam’s writing. You will find her, and her organization, are not friends of Saddam, Bush and Blair, etc. Maryam supports the oppressed in struggle.

  2. Im an iraqi shia living in london. yes im sure you will blame everything on the islamists, but funny how this whole problem started because of a secular leader: Saddam Hussein. he murdered people because of their religion, members of my family included, he started catastrophic wars which left his people chafing under the strain of death and debt, and he now sits in a jail laughing at the mess the west has made out of a nation crushed by horrendous UN sanctions which resulted in the deaths of millions of people, mainly children. Then came shock and awe. possibly 100,000 killed.but go right ahead and blame the islamists anyway. Forget that ayatollah sistani has done more to stop the bloodshed than anyone else in iraq. a group of IRAQI CHRISTIANS nominated him for the nobel peace prize.you wanna know why the cartoons hurt the muslims? Because when the Holy Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him) was alive he was the epitomy of peace.Once there was a pagan woman who lived near the Prophet.and everyday the Prophet walked by she would spit at him and swear at him and do the most vulgar things to him, cursing Him and his One god. but never once did the Prophet respond to her. one day He walked by but the woman wasnt there to throw things at Him. so He went to enquire about her, and He found out that she was ill and so He went to visit her. the woman was shocked upon seeing the Prophet “why do you come here, after all i do too you?” she asked. SHE later became a muslim.I must say I am ashamed at the behaviour of some muslims around the world but dont generalise. We could sit around saying that all westerners are all bushies who are hell bent on war.I know this not to be true, so why generalise about muslims?anyway i wish peace and hope you think twice about your mission. im sure your hearts in the right place, but your attacking a weak peoples. attack a strong peoples, like the russians in chechnya or the US in Iraq or the Israelis in Palestine, If you really want to change things, but dont attack the people who are almost always the victims of these disasters.
