After several years of unrelenting campaigning, the International Campaign Against Sharia Court in Canada, led by Homa Arjomand, and comprising of individuals and organisations, demanding the separation of religion from the Canadian justice system has won! Finally, on September 11, 2005, Premier McGuinty had no other choice. He said: “I’ve come to the conclusion that the debate has gone on long enough,” he said. “There will be no Shariah law in Ontario. There will be no religious arbitration in Ontario. There will be one law for all Ontarians.”

Upon hearing news of the victory, Homa Arjomand said: ‘This victory was the result of the hard work of thousands of activists, across Ontario, Canada and Europe who volunteered their time and skills to help bring an end to Sharia courts in Canada’… ‘…to each and everyone of them I want to say thank you, we did this together.’

She went on to say, ‘Together we have defeated the forces of political Islam in Ontario, but this is just the first step… We must not stop here, we need to continue the fight and assist people in other countries who live under the burdens of Sharia and political Islam…countries such as England, India, Iran, Iraq, Netherlands and Nigeria… the people there are counting on us.’
