#Iran regime referred to International Criminal Court for its war crimes in #Syria, published in Persian in Journal
Iran Human Rights Documentation Center and UK barrister Haydee Dijkstal have filed a request to the International Criminal Court to open an examination into the Islamic regime of Iran’s role in war crimes in Syria. Clearly, the Russian, US and Turkish governments have played a role but the focus on Iran is crucial given its crimes as documented by Syrian refugees in Jordan. Their being in Jordan is key, given that the Iranian and Syrian regimes are not parties to the Rome Statute that established the International Criminal Court but Jordan is which permits the request under international law.
It is common knowledge that the regime has provided combat troops and spent tens of billions of dollars to arm, train and equip Assad’s forces as well as Iran-back militia groups such as the Lebanese Hezbollah in order to suppress the revolution and safeguard Asad’s regime. What’s important, though, is that this is the first attempt to hold the Iranian regime accountable in an international court for its crimes in Syria. It also crucially highlights the extent of the regime’s war crimes, including in helping to suppress protests and oversee the torture and execution of opponents in Syrian prisons, as well as starving populations and forcibly displacing them.
This latest attempt is a continuation of demands for accountability and justice, including via people’s courts such as the Iran and Aban Tribunals. It is one more testament to the decades of the regime’s crimes against people in Iran, Syria, Iraq and elsewhere. Crimes that will not be forgiven or forgotten.

مرکز اسناد حقوق بشر ایران و وکیل دادگاه هِیدی دیکستال از دادگاه کیفری بین المللی در لاهه درخواست کرده اند که نقش حکومت اسلامی ایران در جنایات جنگی در سوریه را مورد رسیدگی قرار دهد. تمرکز روی دولت ایران با توجه به ابعاد جنایاتش، که از طرف پناهندگان سوری در اردن مستند شده است، حیاتی است. اینکه این پناهندگان در حال حاضر مقیم اردن هستند کلیدی است زیرا دولت اردن عضو اساسنامه رم – که دادگاه لاهه را بنیان نهاده است می باشد که طبق قوانین بین المللی تسلیم این درخواست را ممکن می کند.
رژیم اسلامی ایران دهها میلیارد دلار برای تسلیح، آموزش و تجهیز نیروهای نظامی بشار اسد و همچنین در حمایت از گروه هایی مانند حزب الله لبنان بمنظور سرکوب انقلاب مردم و حفاظت از حکومت اسد هزینه کرده است. اما نکته مهم این است که این اولین تلاش برای مسئول شناختن حکومت ایران در یک دادگاه بین المللی نسبت به جنایاتش در سوریه است. این اقدام در عین حال وسعت جنایات جنگی رژیم اسلامی ایران، از جمله نقش آن در کمک به سرکوب اعتراضات مردم و نظارت بر شکنجه و اعدام مخالفین در زندان های سوریه و همچنین گرسنگی دادن به مردم و جابجائی اجباری آنها را برجسته می کند.
تلاش اخیر در ادامه دادگاه های مردمی مانند ایران تریبونال و آبان تریبونال است. در عین حال سند دیگری است بر چندین دهه جنایات حکومت اسلامی علیه مردم ایران، سوریه، عراق و مناطق دیگر. جنایاتی که نه فراموش خواهند شد و نه بخشوده می شوند.
